Steve Mera of Manchester’s Association of Paranormal Investigators(MAPIT) and Training has kindly provided Wythenshawe365 with the following summary of some of the paranoral activity in Wythenshawe. There’s been a number of investigation and occurances in Wythenshawe over the last 30 years.
In 1980 there was a large circular object seen hovering over Wythenshawe Park. Seen by at least 12 witnesses outside the Royal Oak Public House which is now a McDonalds. The sighting was only as short as two
minutes but all witnesses reported the same object.
There have been numerous reports of paranormal phenomena. Wythenshawe Park has had its main share of them with Phantom white ladies seen at the window of the Hall and outside the Hall at nioght carrying a lantern of some sort. Monks have regularly been seen
in the grounds of the hall and occasionally the strange sound of gunfire and battle scenes.
A few houses around the Wythenshawe estate have also been associated with paranormal experiences. Apart from Baguley Hall, which derives its name from the Bigalow Baguley family from the U.S. Several council house tenants have reported phenomena. One such families disturbances were investigated in 1996 after reporting their problems to the local coucil office. They later were moved to another home. At the time they blamed a
kitchen fire on the disturbances. Strange hand marks were appearing on the ceilings in the home. More recently there have been reported phenomena taking place in a warehouse in Sharston, Wythenshawe. We are currently monitoring it. A house on Gib lane which has recently been sold due to the family not wanting to stay in because of the disturbances was documented.Childrens toys moving of their own accord and other
items around the house was often found disturbed from their normal resting place. The family quickly vacated.

I myself am a resident in Wythenshawe and my husband worked in a factory/warehouse in Sharston and has told me of seeing pictures taken of floating orbs.

a few years ago me and my daughter was walking past south manchester high school on brownley road, it was about 9pm and we noticed a bike cycling towards us in the distance, as the bike came closer we both was shocked to discover it wasn’t a human on the bike, we both looked in shock as we both saw exactly the same thing it was a skeletons face with a black hood covering the head, as it passed us we both said did you see that?? as we looked back for a second look to confirm what we had seen it had vanished!!! it wasn’t possible for it to dissapear so suddenly as we was half way past the school railings, the eerie thing about that evening was it was deadly quite not a person or car in sight, has anybody else came scross anything like this on brownley road? please comment if you have!!!!!! spooky!!!!!!!!!

I am from the Wythenshawe area and believe some time in May a number of orange objects were seen hovering our local pub (The Wendover). There were multiple witnesses stood outside the pub who saw this. I was told by a friend.

Also around 11 years ago me and my friend were going out and her dad was dropping us off in his van. He drove us down Wythenshawe Road where he stopped and pulled over near where the Farm Shop is. We got out and noticed other people had pulled up as well to have a look – there was a huge oval shaped object flying over Wythenshawe Park glowing a birhgt green/orange. It had a flat top and bottom but you could tell from the side view we had that it was shaped like an oval. We watched it direct itself over Northern Moor where it dissappeard behind the houses….. I don’t know if this was reported but I deffinately remember this.

I have many great memories of growing up on Royal Oak Road, rough, ready but fair and in the main, happy. From September 1982 to March 1983 I had the good fortune of working in Wythie park on a YTS scheme learning the horticulture trade. I was once asked to go into a store room located at the back of the old hall to pick up some tools, I unlocked the door with the key given to me and to my suprise there was a steep curving staircase down in a dark room, with one small opening up in the top corner where there was an iron grate across it letting a little light into the room. This room had a very eerie, creepy feeling about it so I hurried to find the tools I was looking for. I was just about to leave when I heard the door above slam shut, I hurried up the stairs to find to me horror there was no way of opening the door from the inside. Remebering the little opening with the iron grate I ran back sown the stone, dusty steps to the room. The opening was about 10 feet high and as such there was no way I could reach it. I now started to panick a little, this place was really creepy and reminded me of an old dungeon in the depths of the manor house with the little sky light at the top of the wall. I found a very old woden ladder in the dark corner pushed it up to the wall, just when I started climbing the ladder, things behind and below me started to fall over, things that had been hanging on the wall for probably years started to fall off, the echoing sound was so loud. I looked round and in the corner furthest from me I swear I saw a figure move, not bein terriffied by such things or because I was young and foolhardy I got down the ladder, stood on the stone, dusty floor and looked straight at it. I could not make it because the dim winter light coming through the grate did not offer much light, I walking toward it, kicking and shoving the tools and artifacts that now lay on the floor away with my feet, never taking my eye off this thing I could see in the corner. It just stood there, I somehow got the impression it was male but could decern no clothing as such. it was just a feeling I got. It was a kind of dark grey in colour, I could make out the eyes, nose and mouth or more the outline of them. It seemed to be slightly bent over or hunched and smaller than me, about 5 foot 7 or something like that, ither way not as tall as my 6 feet 1. As I got closer I nearly tripped on a shovel and quickly looked down, as I looked up again It had gone. The strange this I felt no feeling of ill intent or malice once it had appeared but I had felt a bad vibe about the room when I had first steped into it. I turned round, walked back to the ladder, looked through the grate and waited a while untill a couple appeared in the gardens. I shouted them and they eventually saw my hand sticking out through the grate, the chap took the keys from me and opened the door. I got down the ladder, ran up the steps and out into the day light thanking him. I locked the door, found my gaffer and told why I had taken so long, he took what I hd told him with little reverence, not mocking me nor asking full details, like it was nothing new to him. It was an experience I have never, nor will ever forget. I know my brother and some mates also had a close encounter with heavenly spirits one late night in the park, maybe I can get him to post on here one day.

i live in woodhousepark our house has always felt uncomfortable even though the family have lived here for over 30 years (i will not divulge our address) my mother has seen a figure of a man on the landing. He looked solid but faded away after several minutes. my brothers and i have all heard something whispering our names when we are alone. the whole family have heard footsteps upstairs when we are all in the living room. our dog will respond as if he is being stroked he will also look at the door as if someone has walked in the room and his eyes will follow this whatever or whoever it is around the room. I have searched and asked neighbours but cannot find any history of anyone dying here.

I Live in an estate near Sharston Roundabout and have only been here not even 3 months, and on at least 4 occasions something unexplained has happend!
1st incident – me and my partner were decorating upstairs when our newborn son was crying downstiars and suddenly he stopped and we heard a voice hushing him to sleep
2nd incident – i awoke to make my son a bottle and heard a noise in front room, i went to investigate and the TV was on in front room, i know it was turned off before bed!
3rd incident – i awoke because i felt uncomfortable and the next thing one of our doors in the hallway slammed shut! i went downstairs and all our doors were shut as i left them so i cant explain it
4th incident, i awoke to someone banging on our front door, i got up and shouted out the window “Whos there” but nobody was? i went downstairs to investigate and ALL our lights were on?
My partner is not to bothered by it but i am
I found out that the old couple that lived here both died in Hospital but the old women refused to leave here when she was really ill and the day she was taken to hospital she died not long after!
So has her spirit stayed here when she died, i dont know but i would like someone to come and investigate it!

Hi i was at my friends flat on Nathans road in wythenshawe she has told me that in the past the clock on her wall has lifted up and flew across the room wile her,her boyfriend and his mate was there i was not there to see it but last night me my friend and her fella was sat around just chatting i asked what the time was she said there is a clock on the wall i looked up and as i did the clocked stopped we said that was good timing lol then there was a bag on the wall near the window so i said to them what if your ghost is bk to get us joking round rob says to me don’t say that we talked about whats happend in the past i said lets talk to it see if we get a responce we did there was only the three of us there i have only been asking a few questions and i started to get upset like i had lost some one close to me tears filled up my eyes then her blind started to move no widows were open we were asking questions and as soon as we had finished asking there were bangs knocks coming from all over the place we were all shitting it by this time. Zoe asked if i would take the clock out as it was that what has moved in the past so i took the clock out and put it in the hall no one had left the room and we carryed on talking to what was ever making the bangs then that deep down up set feeling came back i wanted to cry i covered my face up as i did not want them to know i was scared wen i lifted my head up Zoe was in floods of tears i asked whats wrong she said i don’t know i cant help it whats happernig i shouted out come then u can scare a woman do somthing to the men as i said that it felt like some one pushed me with a force i did not feel a hand just this almighty push it though me off the couch but as what ever pushed me Rob and Zoe both hurd a loud noise behind me witch i did not hear my self by this time i was so scared i said thats it i want out please i just cant stay here any longer so we all ran to the door and as i opened the door and went in to the hall Zoe said the clock look we all looked at it it had moved time still dead and not working but the hands had moved by 20 mins and as it was me that had taken it out i know i did not move the time i don’t know what has just happend to me and my friends last night but i can not explane we went for a walk wile having a cig just to get out we were all shook up but when we re-entered it was all calm as if nuthing had happend there and not a peep since we sat aroud talk going over what we have all just went though this is no joke we have been told that 2 people have killed there selfs in the block of flats in the past but in what flat we don’t know but something happen there witch i will never be able to explane or EVER get over if any one knows more about the mother and baby unit at 5 Nathans road please please let me know as i want to get to the bottom of what happend to try and understand what has just gone on and left us all so shook up thanks xxxxxx
